Cuban Osniel Rendon, Most Valuable Player of the II Pan America U-23 Men’s Volleyball Cup

Havana, CUBA, 10 October, 2014: The host Osniel Rendon was nominated the Most Valuable Player of the Pan America Men’s Volleyball Cup which finished tonight with the victory of Cuba and the silver medal for Mexico, both teams reaching the two available tickets of NORCECA for the WCH, 2015. Osniel, a 2,02 meter-height boy who will turn into 18 years old.  More  Español

Cuba champion of II U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, October 10, 2014 – Cuba won unbeaten the II U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup by achieving its sixth consecutive victory in the final by overcoming Mexico in straight sets (25-23, 25-14, 25-23) in presence of their fans at the Coliseum of the Sports City. Likewise, without losing any set, the local team was superior to the visitors for second day. Dominican Republic secures bronze medal

HAVANA, Cuba, October 10, 2014 - Dominican Republic secured the bronze medal of the II Pan American U-23 Men’s Volleyball Cup by defeating Guatemala in straight sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-15). For second day in a row, the Dominicans outclassed the Guatemalans, this time in only 53 minutes and in a match where outscored the Guatemalans in spikes (33-17) and blocks (13-4); although Dominicans made a pair of errors more than their rivals (28-26). The outside hitters, Luis Adames (15) and Henry Lopez (11). Cuba defeats Mexico and go for gold
HAVANA, Cuba, October 9, 2014 – Cuba outclassed Mexico 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-15) in a match, among unbeaten teams, which defined the first place of the preliminary round. Both teams will meet again tomorrow for the title of the II U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup. 
Cubans and Mexicans had already ensured the two NORCECA tickets for the World Championship, 2015. They staged a nice clash, despite de superiority of the locals particularly in the spikes (40-21).  More  Español

Dominicans beat Guatemala and repeat duel for bronze

HAVANA, Cuba, October 9, 2014 - Dominican Republic overcame Guatemala 3-1 (18-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-16) but they will have to meet again on Friday for the bronze medal of the II Pan American U-23 Men’s Volleyball Cup at the Coliseum of the Sports City. The outside hitters, Luis Adames (33) and Henry Lopez (13) led the attack by the winning team as both also did in the previous matches. For the defeated side, Leonel Arago and Gerardo Paz, both with 10 points, were the others who tallied double digits. More  Español

Trinidad & Tobago win, will play El Salvador for fifth

HAVANA, Cuba, October 9, 2014 – Trinidad and Tobago claimed their first victory by overcoming El Salvador in straight sets (25-23, 25-23, 25-18) and both teams  will meet again for the fifth place of the II U23 Men’s Pan American Cup whose preliminary round of round-robin ends today. Once again, outside hitter Brandon Legall, was the offensive leader for the Trinidadians with 21 points, as the only player who in this 72-minute match. Cuba and Mexico claim tickets for U23 WCH  

HAVANA, Cuba, October 8, 2014 – Cuba beat Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-23) and jointly with Mexico, both unbeaten with four victories at the II U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup, qualified for the FIVB World Championship, 2015 of this age group category. The host team showed their best game level at this tournament by leading in spikes (36-27), blocks (15-2) and services (4-3) led by Osmani Uriarte (15), Livan Osoria and Lazaro Fundora, both tallying 10 points. More  Español

Guatemala takes advantage of El Salvador’s weaknesses

HAVANA, Cuba, October 8, 2014 – Guatemala overcame El Salvador 3-1 (15-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-17) in a lackluster match to secure the winners a finish out of the bottom at the II U23 Men’s Pan American Cup being played under a round-robin format at the capital’s Sport City. The Salvadorians despite advantages in attacks (39-35) and blocking (16-8) made too many mistakes (43-20) and lost the initiative, while the Guatemalans. More  Español

Mexico outclass Trinidad for fourth win 

HAVANA Cuba, October 8, 2014 – Mexico defeated Trinidad and Tobago in straight sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-17) in only 44-minute match for their fourth consecutive win to open Wednesday’s programme at the II U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup.  The opposite hitter, Alexis Garay (11) was the only player who tallied double digits by the Central Americans while outside hitter Brandon Legall (10) . Cuba dominates El Salvador for third win
HAVANA, Cuba, October 7, 2014 – Cuba beat El Salvador in straight sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-17) to continue with their string of victories at the II U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup. The local team did not need all their starting players and only the outside hitter Abraham Alfonso reached double digits (16), while the middle blocker Felix Chapman scored nine; and Inovel Romero had eight, the same total of El Salvador’s top scorer, the opposite hitter Mauricio Rivas. Mexico outduels Dominican Republic in hard-fought match 

HAVANA Cuba, October 7, 2014 – Mexico was stronger than Dominican Republic in the tie-break to win a close five-set battle (27-25, 29-31, 19-25, 25-22, 15-13) for their third straight victory at the II U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup which runs place until next Friday.  The Caribbean team (2-1) was superior in spikes (66-56) and their outside hitter. Guatemala scores their first win 
HAVANA Cuba, October 7, 2014 – Guatemala scored their first win by overcoming Trinidad and Tobago 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 25-16) on the third day of the II U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup at the Coliseum of the Sport City. The Central Americans started leading the match, but the Caribbeans finally won at least one set at this tournament, something they almost did when losing closely against the Dominicans in the second set 25-27 on Monday. HAVANA, Cuba, October 6, 2014 – Cuba roared past Guatemala to score an easy  25-14, 25-12, 25-10 victory for their second win as they continue seeking  one of the tickets granted by the II U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup for the WCH in 2015. Dominicans defeat Trinidadians for second win

HAVANA Cuba, October 6, 2014 – Dominican Republic scored their second win by overcoming Trinidad and Tobago in straight sets (25-12, 27-25, 25-14) at the II U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup which takes place at the Coliseum of the Sport City. Despite the surprise at the second set, the winning team finished the match in 69 minutes leading in spikes (30-18) and services (8-3) but not in blocks as both teams tallied five points, while the Trinidadians made 34 errors to 25.   More  Español

Cuba scores easy win over Trinidad and Tobago

HAVANA, Cuba, October 5, 2014 - The Cuban team easily overcame Trinidad and Tobago in three consecutive sets (25-14, 25-12, and 25-10) in the nightcap of the opening day at the II Pan American U-23 Men’s Volleyball Cup at the Coliseum of the Sports City.  The local team needed just 58 minutes to defeat their rivals they outscored widely in spikes (37-8), blocks (10-3) and services (3-1). The opposite hitter, Osniel Rendon was the only one who tallied a double-digit scoring (11) while Osmany Uriarte contributed with nine. More  Español

Dominican Republic swept El Salvador in their debut

HAVANA, Cuba, October 5, 2014 - Dominican Republic swept El Salvador (25-15, 25-12, and 25-13) in their debut at the II Pan American U-23 Men’s Volleyball Cup at the Coliseum of the Sports City, the largest sporting facility for this discipline in the major Island with capacity for fifteen thousands spectators. The Dominicans did not have any opposition to end up the match in only 63 minutes. They led in spikes (38-11), blocks (14-3).  More  Español

Mexico overcame Guatemala for first victory

Havana, Cuba, October 5, 2014 – Mexico claimed their first victory by overcoming Guatemala to win 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-17) in the opening day of the second U-23 Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup at the Coliseum of the Sports City. On the winning team, the opposite hitter, Alexis Garay, (16) and outside Julian Duarte (14) led the attack and defeated their opponents with a better blocking (43-37) and service (4-3). Although the Guatemalans were better at blocking (9-7), they made a lot of errors (43-37).  More  Español

Cuba, Mexico and Dominican Republic the favorites at Men’s U23

HAVANA, Cuba, October 4, 2014 – Six teams are taking part in the II Men’s U23 Pan American Cup to be played at Ciudad Deportiva Coliseum from October 5-10, but the coaches of three of them are a little more optimistic about claiming the two tickets available to the 2015 World Championship. But anyway, all of them consider of vital importance to take part in the competition to be played under a round-robin format with Cuba, Mexico and Dominican Republic.  More  Español

All set in Havana for Men’s U23 Pan Am Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, October 3, 2014 – Following the inspection visit to the competition and training facilities, the members of the Control Committee of the II Men’s U23 Pan American Cup approved them to successfully host the event from October 5 to 12 at the Sport City Coliseum of the Cuban capital. In the competition venue, totally prepared to receive the five visiting teams from Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, EL Salvador and Trinidad & Tobago, the national local team played an intrasquad.
