Brazilians lift Men’s U21 Pan American Cup trophy

GATINEAU, Canada, June 28, 2015 – Brazil has clinched the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup title on Sunday after posting a convincing win over the USA in three sets (25-22, 25-23, 25-17) at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. Both teams, already qualified for the World Championships this September in Mexico, played a rematch of the preliminary duel earlier in the tournament. Brazil had won 3-1. Showing a consistent level in the first set, Brazil took the lead from the start and kept a narrow margin 16-13 at the second technical timeout. Canada wins U21 Men’s Pan Am Cup bronze

GATINEAU, Canada, June 28, 2015 – Canada clinched the bronze medal of the U21 Men’s Pan Am Cup final after another thrilling 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 25-16 and 15-11) victory over Chile on Sunday at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. In another rematch from the preliminary round, won by Canada 3-2, the host team got off to a good start by taking a close first set 25-23. Chile bounced back to even the match 25-19. Barbados beats El Salvador 3-1 to finish sixth

GATINEAU, Canada, June 28, 2015 – Barbados beat El Salvador 3-1 (25-11, 25-15, 21-25 and 25-18) on Sunday to finish sixth at the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. In the rematch of their duel in the preliminary round, the Caribbean squad dominated their Central American rivals in attacks (46-24) and serving aces (12-1). Andriy Stapleton and Jabarry Goodridge contributed to the victory with 20 points each.  Goodridge finished the tournament with 85 points. Captain Ammuniki Wood and Ahkeem Mayers added 11 and 10, respectively. Captain Samuel Valdez was the top scorer for El Salvador with 9 points.  More  Español

USA beats Canada 3-1 to reach the finals
GATINEAU, Canada, June 27, 2015 – The United States will meet Brazil on Sunday in the U21 Men’s Pan Am Cup final after a hard-fought 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22) victory over Canada at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. Earlier on Sunday, Canada, the silver medallist in the 2011 edition, will take on Chile for bronze. The USA took the early lead and dominated the first two sets. Canada responded in the third and moved to the lead for the first time halfway through the third set. With the score 19-19, Brandon Koppers, Arthur Szwarc and captain Ryan Nickifor showed a strong attack and blocking to lead the host team to a 25-20 victory. Brazil to play the final of U21 Men’s Pan American Cup

GATINEAU, Canada, June 27, 2015 – Brazil will play the final of the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup after defeating Chile 3-1 (25-17, 25-15, 22-25, 25-19) on Saturday at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. The South American squad, already qualified for the World Championships this September in Mexico, showed their powerful play across all aspects of the game to take the first two sets. However, Chile never gave up and took advantage of their rivals’ mistakes to win the third 25-22. Brazil regained their best volleyball. Chile continued to add pressure.More  Español

Mexico secures fifth place at U21 Pan American Cup

GATINEAU, Canada, June 27, 2015 – Mexico finished fifth at the U21 Men’s Pan Am Cup after a 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-19) win over Barbados on Saturday at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. The hosts of the next World Championships achieved their first victory in the tournament and forced their Caribbean rivals to battle against El Salvador for the sixth place on Sunday. Francisco Olvera led the Mexican attack with seven points, two more than Alan Martinez. Injured captain Enrique Ugalde did not play. USA through to the semifinals after 3-0 win over Mexico
GATINEAU, Canada, June 26, 2015 – The United States are through to the semifinals of the U21 Men’s Pan Am Cup after a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-12) win over Mexico Friday at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. The USA team dominated their North American neighbours attacks (35-27) and blocks (13-1). Jeffrey Jendryk II led the US attack with 13 points, two more than Christopher Nugent.  Captain Enrique Ugalde was the top scorer for Mexico with eight points, two more than Alan Martinez. Chile to semifinals with 3-0 victory over Barbados

 GATINEAU, Canada, June 26, 2015 – Chile blanked Barbados 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-20) on Friday in just over one hour to advance to the semifinals of the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. The South American squad dominated their opponents in attacks (35-23) and blocks (12-7). Gianluca Boreli led the winner’ attack with 14 points, five more than captain Dusan Bonacic and Gabriel Araya. Canada tops Chile in a five-set thriller to lead Pool A

GATINEAU, Canada, June 25, 2015 – Canada topped Chile in a five-set thriller (25-21,25-22,21-25, 20-25, 15-11) on Thursday to finish on top of Pool A and guarantee a spot in the semifinals at the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup, held at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. USA rolls past El Salvador 3-0 to finish second in Pool B

GATINEAU, Canada, June 25, 2015 - The United States rolled past El Salvador 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-22) to finish second in Pool B at the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. The North American team dominated their Central American rivals in attacks (42-17), blocks (11-4) and serving aces (3-0). GATINEAU, Canada, June 25- Brazil swept Barbados 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-8) in one hour to finish on top of Pool B at the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. Brazil dominated their Caribbean rivals in attacks (24-15), blocks (12-5) and serving aces (4-1) to seal a spot in the semifinals on Saturday. GATINEAU, Canada, June 24, 2015 – Brazil has moved to the top of Pool B of the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup as they posted a convincing 3-1 (25-23, 25-18, 13-25, 25-20) win over the United Sates on Wednesday at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. Chile wins against Mexico in Gatineau

GATINEAU, Canada, June 24, 2015 – Chile made a successful debut in Pool A action of the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup by beating Mexico 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-19) Wednesday at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. The South American squad dominated their opponents in attacks (41-23), blocks (7-4) and serving aces (4-3). Gianluca Boreli led the Chilean attack with 15 points, one more than captain Dusan Bonacic. Barbados comes from behind to beat El Salvador

GATINEAU, Canada, June 24, 2015 – Barbados overcame a 0-2 deficit to beat El Salvador 3-2 (19-25, 24-26, 25-17, 25-21, 15-11) Wednesday in Pool B action of the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. After losing to the United Sates on Tuesday, Barbados has higher hopes of qualifying to the quarterfinal stage.  With two defeats, El Salvador now sits last in Pool B. The Central American squad got off to a good start by taking the first two sets 25-19 and 26-24. Canada prevails over Mexico at U21 Pan Am Cup

GATINEAU, Canada, June 23, 2015 – Canada took the lead in Pool A of the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-14) victory over Mexico Tuesday at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. Both teams, who will play at the World Championships next September in Mexico, played very evenly in the first two sets. Mexico overcame a 13-16 deficit taking advantage of some mistakes by the host team to get the lead 19-17. With the score 23-23, Canada sealed the victory following a failed serve by their opponents and an ace by Blake Scheerhoorn. GATINEAU, Canada, June 23, 2015 – The United States opened their U21 Men’s Pan Am Cup campaign in Pool B with an easy victory over Barbados 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-18) Tuesday at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau. The North American team prevailed over their Caribbean opponents in attacks (39-20), blocks (7-5) and serving aces (6-0). U21 Men’s Pan Am Cup Set to Begin in Canada

GATINEAU, Canada, June 22, 2015 - The U21 Men’s Pan Am Cup is ready to begin on Tuesday, June 23, at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau, in Quebec, Canada. Matches begin on Tuesday, with El Salvador facing the tournament's top-ranked Brazil at 4 pm.  Canada’s first match is at 8 pm, also on the 23rd, against Mexico; with Barbados taking on the U.S. at 6 pm.  Seven teams will compete in two pools. Teams from seven countries to compete in U21 Cup

GATINEAU, Canada, June 22, 2015 – Teams from seven countries divided into two pools will compete at the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau from June 23 to 28. The teams taking part in the competition are hosts Canada, Chile and Mexico in Pool A and Barbados, Brazil, El Salvador and United States in Pool B. A preliminary round-robin will be played from June 23 to 25 with the top two teams from each pool advancing directly to the semifinal phase.
