Brenda Castillo wins MVP and three other awards
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 15, 2017 – Dominican
Republic’s super star Brenda Castillo took home the lion’s share
at the awards ceremony following the victory of her team at the
NORCECA Group A Qualification Tournament to the FIVB Women’s
World Championship Japan 2018.
Beside her MVP plaque, Castillo won the recognition as best
libero, best digger and best receiver.

Dominicans Win gold medal at
Group A
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 15, 2017 – Host
Dominican Republic defeated Puerto Rico 3-0 (26-24, 25-21,
25-15) to conclude the NORCECA Group A Qualification in the
first position on Sunday in front of 5,000 spectators at Ricardo
Arias Pavilion.
Both teams were already qualified to the FIVB Women’s World
Championship 2018 to be held in Japan.

Guatemala wins match for third place
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 15, 2017 – Guatemala
prevailed over Jamaica in straight sets 3-0 (25-23, 25-19,
25-20) in a match for third place at the NORCECA Group A Final
Qualification Tournament for the 2018 FIVB Women’s World
Championship on Sunday.
Rut Gomez had 17 points as the best scorer for Guatemala,
followed by Blanca Recinos and Astrid González who each had 12
points in the victory. Tahleia Bishop had 10 points to lead
Jamaica.

Dominican Republic qualifies to World Championship for eighth
time
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 14, 2017 – Dominican
Republic swept Jamaica in straight sets 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-6)
to secure the spot in next year’s FIVB Women’s World
Championship in Japan.
It is the eighth time the Dominican Republic reach the final
stage of an FIVB Women’s World Championship with a fifth place
in 2014 as their best finish.

Puerto Rico claims ticket to the world championship
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 14, 2017 – Daly
Santana scored 16 points and Stephanie Enright and Alba
Hernandez each contributed 9 points as Puerto Rico secured a
spot in next year’s FIVB Women’s World Championship in Japan
after a 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-13) victory over Guatemala on
Saturday.
It is the fifth consecutive time that Puerto Rico qualify to the
world championship and seventh overall.

Dominicans crushed Guatemala to begin Group A
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 13, 2017 – Dominican
Republic pummeled Guatemala 3-0 (25-7, 25-7, 25-11) in the
second match of Day One at the NORCECA Women’s Qualification
Tournament Group A on Friday.
The Dominicans served well and displayed excellent defense at
the net to claim the win. The top two ranked teams at the
conclusion of the tournament will earn tickets to the FIVB
Women’s World Championship next year in Japan.

Rico swept Jamaica 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-17) with a flurry of
strong serves in the first match of the NORCECA Final Women’s
Qualification Tournament Group A on Friday.
Stephanie Enright and Daly Santana led the parade of good
servers for Puerto Rico with 7 and 6 aces, respectively.
