U20 Women’s Pan Am Cup to get underway

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, May 7, 2017.-  Members of the control committee of the U20 Women’s  Pan American Cup had a busy day of inspections at San José, Costa Rica,  as the event is set to get underway on May 8.

Inspections were conducted by Jose Luis Jimenez Lao, Competition Director, who organized visits around the facilities prepared for the tournament in order to present a full inspection report.

Each control committee member appointed for the event was responsible to arrange a detailed check list to of their respective working areas as participating teams began their arrival to the City of San Jose thru out the day.

The delegation visited the competition venue, Gimnasio Nacional with a capacity of 4500 spectators and to the training venue, Polideportivo de San Francisco de Dos Rios, as well as Park Inn Hotel, where teams will be lodged.

Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, FIVB First-Vice-President and NORCECA President, was briefed with the day’s activities during a meeting held with the organizing committee presided by Edgar Alvarado, AFECAVOL President and Costa Rica’s National Volleyball Federation President.

Marte Hoffiz indicated that the NORCECA Confederation will continue to support its National Federations, contributing to the evident growing on development of volleyball throughout the American continent, “I have no doubt this will be another well-organized tournament; your efforts are highly appreciated and contribute to the development plan we have clearly traced for the next four years”.

Alvarado welcomed the control committee to Costa Rica and said “we are honored to be hosting this prestigious event, we are among friends and not only do I wish for successful competition, but I hope our friendship will grow as well”.

Different topics were discussed with the organizers to keep the competition running smoothly, under FIVB regulations and to present to each team during the preliminary inquiry to be held on the eve of the competition on Sunday.
