New records set by Mexico at U23 Men’s Cup
SANTO
DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 17, 2021 –
Mexico established two new team records of the
U23 Men’s Pan American Cup held in Santo Domingo
from July 12 to 16.
The new champions set the new mark for highest
scoring set when they prevailed 34-32 in the
first set of their pool play against.

Mexican Lopez elected MVP of the U23 Cup
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 16, 2021
– Mexico’s Josué de Jesús Lopez was named the
Most Valuable Player of the U23 Men’s Volleyball
Pan American Cup won by his team with a victory
over Puerto Rico. The ceremony was presided over
by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of the
Volleyball Pan American Union.

Mexico wins gold medal at U23 Cup
SANTO DOMIINGO, Dominican Republic, July 16,
2021 – Mexico took home the gold medal at the
U23 Men’s Volleyball Pan American Cup after a
3-1 (25-27, 25-26, 26-24, 25-20) victory over
Puerto Rico on Friday night. Josue de Jesus
Lopez collected 20 points as the top scorer of
the Mexican side, including two blocks. Ariel
Hernández and Diego Gonzalez also finished in
double figures for the winners with 15 and 13
points, respectively.

– Mexico progressed to the gold medal match at
the U23 Men’s Volleyball Pan American Cup after
defeating Guatemala 3-0 (25-18, 32-30, 25-17) on
Thursday.
Josue Lopez had match-high 16 points, including
three aces and one block, as the main weapon of

collecting an easy straight-set 3-0 (25-13,

unexperienced team of Suriname on Tuesday. The
strong serves by the Mexicans proved to be too
strong and accurate as they scored 11 aces,
including four by Diego Gonzalez.

Dominican
Republic debuts with a 3-0 win
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 12, 2021
– Host Dominican Republic started off on the
right foot scoring a straight-set victory 3-0
(25-21, 25-20, 25-16) over Panama in Pool A of
the U23 Men’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on
Monday.
Luis David Reinoso was the best Dominican scorer
with 16 points followed by Juan Gabriel Feliz
with 10 points.

Seven teams to compete at NORCECA Men’s
Qualifier

– Teams representing Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico,
Panama, Puerto Rico, Suriname and host Dominican
Republic will participate in the NORCECA U23
Volleyball Men’s Qualifier to the inaugural
Junior Pan American Games to be held in Cali,
Colombia from November 25 to December 5.
The competition will be disputed at Palacio del
Voleibol Ricardo Arias of Santo Domingo from
July 12-16 with the top four ranked teams
earning tickets to the continental multi-sport
event.
