All-Star squads announced in Puerto Rico

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 5, 2014 – The best players of the 2014 Puerto Rican Women’s Superior League will be in action when the annual All-Star Game place next March 11 at Salvador Dijols Gymnasium of Ponce.

 

The squads, each formed by 15 players representing the Metropolitan area (Caguas, Cataño, Guaynabo and Carolina) and the Islanders (Mayagüez, Humacao, Ponce and Juncos), were announced on Tuesday.

 

The composition of the teams includes three setters, four middle blockers, four outside hitters, two opposite players and two liberos.

 

The players elected to represent the Metropolitans are:

Taylor Brauneis, Vilmarie Mojica and Lauren Cook, setters; Dulce Téllez, Hecters Rivera, Alexandra Oquendo and Lizzie Cintrón, middle blockers; Megan Ganzer and Vanessa Vélez, opposite players; Stephanie Neimer, Lauren Wicinki, Falyn Fonoimaona and Stephanie Holtus, outside hitters; Deborah Seilhammer and Shara Venegas, liberos.

 

The members of the Islanders team are:

Natalia Valentin and Karla Echenique and Remy McBain, setters; Yasary Castrodad, Janelis Torres, Amanda Vazquez and Jessica Candelario, middle blockers; Katherine Harms and Sarai Álvarez, opposite players; Airial Salvo, Legna Hernández, Hanna Werth and Kim Willoughby, outside hitters; Pamela Cartagena and Graciela Márquez, liberos.

 

Milton Crespo will coach of the Metropolitans while Jose Mieles will mentor the Islanders.
