Always something new to learn at the NORCECA Circuit

MANZANILLO, Mexico, May 29 2014 – Taking part in one stop of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit is always exciting not only for the most experienced pairs but also for the newcomers with every stage offering something new to be learnt.

That is the opinion shared by most of the players of both genders who have arrived into Manzanillo and have had the chance to step on the sand of San Pedrito Beach.

On Thursday morning the players also attended to their preliminary inquiry at the Grand Festivall Resort as they prepared for the beginning of the tournament.

I’m excited. I think I was here a few years ago. I recognized the facility here. So it was a good time, very well organized and I hope it’s going to be the same,” said Josh Binstock, who plays for Team Canada A.

For his partner, Sam Schachter, this is his first time.  The resort it’s very nice. I look forward to check the courts and hope it’s going to be a fun tournament”, he remarked.

Just after a few weeks after winning in Guatemala, Americans Christal Engle and Heather Hughes could not hide their feelings and their desire to get another victory.

“I’m excited to be here and can’t wait to compete. Our first win in a NORCECA tour was in Guatemala. It was a great experience to be able to come away with a win,” Engle said.

“This is my first time in Colima. It’s awesome and big hotel. It feels great to be playing in Mexico. They always do a really good job and I’m looking forward to play”, Hughes stated.

Their fellow compatriots of USA-B, Martin Lorenz and Skylar McCoy said this is a great chance to get exposure. “This is our first NORCECA event. So we are really excited to come out here and see what is all about to get our frst national exposure, so we are excited”, said Lorenz.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to play some of the best teams in our region and we hope to do well,” McCoy added.

The Morisco Ball Room at the Grand Festival Hotel also received players from other parts of the region like Aruba, for example. “For us to be playing here in Colima is like home. It is a tropical land, with good beaches, with the same weather. We will enjoy it,” said Mitchel Daniel.

“Beach Volleyball in Aruba is not very popular, but we came here to play and advance to semifinals, that is our goal. Previously we have clinched a berth in the quarterfinals, but want to go beyond that,” Daniel’s partner Eargenell de Cuba said.
