Americans Gibb and Bourne started with victory

TOKYO, Japan, July 27, 2021 – Americans Jake Gibb and Tri Bourne started off on the right foot in the men’s beach volleyball tournament of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with a 2-0 (21-18, 21-19) victory in Pool C of the competition.

The other American team in the event, the one formed by Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena show a 1-1 win-loss record in Pool D.

Dalhausser and Lucena began losing to Netherlands’s Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen 2-0 (21-17, 21-18) before recovering to claim a 2-1 (24-22, 10-21, 15-13) success against Brazil’s Alison Cerutti and Alvaro Morais Filho.

Mexico’s Jose Gaxiola and Josue Rubio lost their first match of the competition in Pool B, falling to Russia’s Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovskiy 2-1 (24-26, 21-15, 18-16)
