Anguilla trumps 3-0 to leave St Martin winless

 

GROS ISLET, St Lucia,   August 13, 2017 - Anguilla put together a controlled effort in all areas to win 3-0 ( 25-18, 25-23, 26-24)  to leave  St Martin still without a win  in the  men’s Group D of the NORCECA Zone of the FIVB  World Championships.

 

Qualifiers  round for teams in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA),  at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.

Anguilla, in a show of improvement, which was evident from their last match against St Lucia.

 

Topping the scoring for Anguilla was Outside Hitter- Sherwin Richardson with 13 points, and for St Martin, both Jeff Pierre (Opposite Hitter) and Julius Henry (Outside Hitter) could only muster 7 points each.

 

The triumph by Anguilla, was a realisation of an expectation of its Head Coach- Justus Connor, as he had previously projected that his team would show improvement.

 

Relating his team’s win, Connor expressed, “There is always a good feeling when you win, especially knowing where we came from…  Today, we were more focussed as the game went on”.

 

“We always match up well against them … We know what they are capable of and they know what we are capable of”, Connor added.

 

Making reference to their movement upwards in their play, Connor informed, “I am really proud of the way we are playing right now… It is unfortunate there are not more games for us as there is a lot left in  us that we can do better”.
