Antigua and Barbuda survives the heat of St. Eustatius

ORANJESTAD, St Eustatius, July 7, 2018 - Team Antigua and Barbuda survived a jolt from host St. Eustatius in their first match of the ECVA U20 tournament, with a score line of 25- 19, 25-14 and 25-19.  Realizing St. Eustatius was intent on booking their ticket to the Pan Am Cup, Antigua and Barbuda’s captain Joseanne Lewis rallied her troupes to limit their progress.  She scored a total of fourteen (14) points to lead her team home.

ST. Eustatius showed their zeal as they fought relentlessly to keep the games close.  Unfortunately their limited offensive capability was unable to siphon the Wadadli spirit.  Leading the attack for   ST. Eustatius was Michaline Penijn with a total of five (5) points.

Coach Spanner of St. Eustatius felt his team needed to execute the game plan that has been practice for the past several months; “Our errors made the difference in the game”.   However, as the tournament progresses, the team will play better.  Antigua’s coach Roselyn Lewis was also confident her young charges will be more relaxed and play to their full potential.  She simply concluded her remarks by saying “Antigua and Barbuda came, Antigua and Barbuda saw and Antigua and Barbuda will conquer”.
