ST CROIX, Virgin Islands, April 9, 2012 - Haiti and Curacao
advanced to the semifinals of the CAZOVA Women’s Junior
Championship and now will meet pools’ winners U.S. Virgin
Islands and Trinidad and Tobago respectively. Barbados and
Bonaire will play for the fifth place.
Haiti, who ranked second in Pool B, defeated Bonaire in straight
sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-17) while Pool A runners-up Curacao
outplayed Barbados in three sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-21).
The overall game of Haiti was well executed and dispatched the
tough Bonaire in 65 minutes with its Captain Bellot registering
12 points that included 3 blocks and 2 aces.
Bellot said: “We came to win 3-0 and we did that. I am happy to
achieve our goal,” while Coach Sarmiento added: “Even though we
won 3-0 I believe we can do better. We must solve some of the
problems before we play our semi-finals game against the host
team.”
Allee Rayanalies, captain of Curacao: “We are in the semi-finals
and now we must serve well, block and attack in our game against
Trinidad and Tobago.”
Coach Arthwyn Luis added: “Tomorrow we have to fight to win the
semi-final against Trinidad and Tobago. They are a strong team
with good serves and attack so we must receive well and block
well to win that game.” |
