Libero Seilhamer leads Puerto Rico All-Star

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 10, 2012 – Puerto Rican Deborah Seilhamer was the most voted player in the annual selection of the All-Star Team of the Puerto Rican Women’s Superior League.

 

The libero of Lancheras de Cataño, who won the triple-crown as best libero, best digger and best receiver of the circuit for the second time in her career, received 11 votes from a panel of journalists.

 

Middle Blockers Dulce María Téllez of Guaynabo Mets and Jessica Jones of Cataño each received 10 votes. The American Jones led the league with 80 blocks, two more than the Cuban Téllez.

 

Puerto Rico’s Yarimar Rosa of Mayaguez Indians and USA’s Erin Moore of Bayamon Cowgirls received 10 and 8 votes respectively as the top outside hitters of the league. Rosa was the best native scorer and attacker while Moore finished as the overall best spiker and second best scorer.

 

The opposite player selected to the ideal team was American Megan Ganzer of Ponce Lionesses who concluded the season as the league top scorer.

 

The best setter was Michelle Nogueras of Caguas Creoles who also was recognized as the Most Improved Player.
