NORCECA President meets with Tijuana Organizers

 

TIJUANA, Mexico, April 25, 2012 - The NORCECA Women’s Olympic Qualifier Tournament Local Organising Committee held its first meeting this Wednesday with confederation authorities at the Baja California High Performance Center.

 

NORCECA President and FIVB First Executive Vice President, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, arrived to the facilities and reviewed every commission updates in preparation for the competition that will be played from April 2 to May 6.

 

“This will be a special event, and Baja California has been a good host, in our first meeting we will have a review of everyone’s responsibility, and the requirements for the competition”, said Marte Hoffiz, who was received by Saul Castro Verdugo, Director of Baja California Sports Institute and Local Organising Committee CEO.

 

“This is the first time that we have a qualifier for Olympic Games in volleyball, we have hosted some other events of this kind previously, but not in this sport and thus we are very honoured”, said Castro Verdugo.

 

During this visit Marte Hoffiz also attended to the opening ceremony of the Data Volley and Video Technical Seminar that takes place in Tijuana, and also followed practice sessions held by the local women’s teams of Baja California as well as the Dominican National Team in preparation for the tournament that will be officially announced to the media on Thursday afternoon.
