Argentinean, Anahí Tosi, MVP at U18 Cup



HAVANA, Cuba, March 22, 2015 – Anahí Tosi, champion team, was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the III Girls’ U18 Pan Am Cup held at the Coliseum of the Sports City.


The 16-year-old player was placed second among the best scorers with 86 points (79 in spike, 8 in block, and 5 in service), fifth spiker, seventh receiver and eighth server.


Massiel Matos, Dominican team, runner up of the tournament, was the Best Opposite Player and the Best Scorer with 92 points (79-8-5).


Another player who was awarded in the Individual Awards twice as the Best Spiker and Best Receiver was, Cuban, bronze medallist, Diaris Pérez.


The Ideal Team is completed by another local player, Aidachi Aguero as the Second Best Spiker; Dominican, Lisbeth Rosario, and Peruvian, Diana de la Peña, as the First and Second Best Blockers, respectively; another Dominican, Natalia Martínez as the Best Sever; the Argentineans, Valentina González as the Best Digger and Azul Benítez as the Best Setter; and Mexican, María Arreola as the Best Libero.


At the Awarding Ceremony which was conducted by the Control Committee chaired by Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, NORCECA President, senior executives of the National Institute for Sports, Physical Education, Sports and Recreation (INDER), there were greatest sporting glories in Volleyball from the Island, among them Olympic and World champions such as Regla Torres, the Best Player in XX Century, Mireya Luis, Mercedes Pérez, Imilis Téllez, Ana Ibis Díaz, Marta Sánchez, Josefina O´Farril and Norka Latamblet.
