Puerto Rico and Canada are first men’s semifinalists

MAYAGUEZ, Puerto Rico, August 25, 2012 –Roberto Rodriguez and Erick Haddock of Puerto Rico-A and Grant O’Gorman and Samuel Pedlow of Canada-A advanced to the semifinals in the men’s field of the Mayaguez Beach Volleyball Tournament, the seventh stage of the 2012 NORCECA Circuit.

Both pairs won two matches in Saturday’s action at Litoral de Mayaguez in the western part of Puerto Rico.

Rodriguez/Haddock defeated compatriots Jose Rivera/Fernando Morales of Puerto Rico-C by score of 21-18, 21-16 and then overcame Simon Fecteau-Botin and Cameron Wheelan of Canada-B 26-24, 21-9.

O’Gorman/Pedlow downed Mitchel Daniel and Eargenell De Cuba of Aruba 21-17, 21-16 and then won 22-20, 21-17 against Orlando Irizarry/Pablo Guzmán of Puerto Rico-B.

In the quarterfinals of the losers’ bracket of the double-elimination event, Irizarry/Guzman play against fellow countrymen Rivera/Morales while Fecteau-Botin/Wheelan take on Fabien Whitfield and Daniel Williams of Trinidad and Tobago.
