Milagros Cabral says farewell to volleyball
London, Great Britain, August 7, 2012 – Dominican captain
Milagros Cabral said good bye to the courts after finishing her
team participation at the Olympic Games.
Dominican Republic, which qualified to the quarterfinals, lost
against USA in straight sets (25-14, 25-21, 25-22) in a match
between two Norceca teams and also marked the farewell of the
veteran player who defended the colors of her country.
When Milagros talked about the match in the post-game conference
her teammates suddenly appeared as a special way to pay tribute
to one leader of the squad. That was a special moment for her
and all the Dominican team.
“This was the last match of our captain, I want to appreciate
what she during the four years we worked together,” said head
coach Marcos Kwiek. “Se is an example as woman, as a
professional, as example to all the Dominican women. For the
girls that are here with us, they must take her work as an
example because retiring in the maximum stage is fantastic.”
Milagros retires and leaves the leadership of the team in a new
generation of players with athletes like Bethania de la Cruz,
who is considered to be the new captain.
“I feel so proud for these girls, I love them so much. They as a
team are in their best moment. This is the beginning of a young
team, which will give a lot to talk about. They showed that
today,” she emphasized. |
