Baja U20 undefeated and Argentina

clinch first win at the Baja California Invitational Cup

 

   

TIJUANA, México, April 4, 2015 - The Baja California U20 team finished undefeated in the opening day at the Baja California Invitational Cup celebrated at the High Performance Center.

 

The host team opened with a victory over the Argentina U18 team 2-1 (25-22, 25-14, 15-11). This tournament format consists in winning 2 of 3 sets.

 

The U20 team won the first set, but in the second one the South American squad had a comeback with an advantage of 11 points. The team coached by Mauro Silvestre tied the action 1-1. However, the local team recovered in the third to grant a victoy and also clinched a second win after defeating the U16 unit of Peru 2-0 (25-15, 25-16).

 

The U20 Baja Girls also won their third match of the opening day, by beating the Baja U18 squad 2-0 (25-16, 25-23) to close undefeated with a 3-0 streak.

 

First win for Argentina

The Argentineans recovered from their first match defeat and beat the Baja California U18 team 2-0 (25-13, 27-25). The South Americans closed the first set with a big advantantage of 12 points. The hosts tried to react in the last points of the second setm but the U18 Pan Am Cup champions closed with a good attack strategy.
