Barbados Girls battle way into the Finals

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, December 12, 2015 - Hosts Barbados came from two sets down and 4-9 in the decider to win a heart stopping match against the previously unbeaten United States Virgin Islands to advance to the CAZOVA finals at the Wildey Gymnasium in Bridgetown.

With the support of hundreds of flag waving screaming supporters Barbados eased into the finals 21-25, 22-25, 25-10, 25-23, 15-12.  Captain Ashley Jordan switched from setter to attacker to lead the Bajans with 18 points. Great support came from Shonte Seale 15 points and Deandra Dottin, 14.

Sisters Khrystin Rosa, 16 points and Khrysti Rosa, 13 points, seemed to be piloting their team to the finals.  However, a number of serving errors particularly in the decider gave the momentum back to the winners.  Barbados took that momentum and then the pulsating match.

Coach Patrick Oxley described the feeling of getting to the finals as a fine tribute to the support from the crowd.  "We have to work on some minor lapses where we have been losing points in bunches and we should be ready to battle for the gold," said Oxley.
