Barracudas and Caribs triumph in St Croix

 

   

ST CROIX, Virgin Islands, October 13, 2015 - The St. Croix Central High School 18th Annual Jr. Varsity Volleyball Tournament was held this past weekend at the Ronald Charles Basketball Arena in St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

 

In the female division the top four finishers at the end of the preliminary games were Educational Complex Barracudas, Good Hope/Country Day Panthers, Central High School Caribs and the Arthur Richards Suns.

 

In the semifinals the Barracudas defeated the Caribs in two out of three sets with scores of 25-13 and 25-14 while the Suns defeated the Panthers in 3 out of 4 sets with scores of 25-15, 17-25 and 15-10.

 

The Lady Barracudas coached by Desiree Miranda defeated the Lady Panthers in 2 out of 3 sets with scores of 25-16, 21-25 and 15-10 to claim the gold medal.

 

In the female Bronze Medal game the Lady Suns defeated the Lady Caribs in 2 straight sets with scores of 25-17 and 25-17.

 

The top scorer for the Barracudas was Jahnea Lynch with 10 points. For the Lady Panthers, Cruz had 11 points.


In the male division the top four finishers at the end of the preliminary games were Central High School Caribs, Educational Complex Barracudas, John H. Woodson Warriors and the Arthur Richards Suns.

 

In the semifinals the Caribs defeated the Suns in 2 straight sets with scores of 25-10 and 25-7 and  the Barracudas edged the Suns in three sets with scores of 25-27, 25-19, and 15-10.

 

The Caribs coached by Gilbert Bognot defeated the Barracudas in 2 straight sets with scores of 25-16 and 25-18 to win the title.

 

In the male Bronze Medal match the Suns defeated the Warriors in 2out of 3 sets with scores of 27-25, 23-25 and 15-8.

 

The Female Most Valuable Player was Shamara Butcher and the Male Most Valuable Players were Zedy'Kya Lake and M'Jaeii Lopez.
