Beijing Olympic champion enjoys being in Mexico
HUIXQUILUCAN, México, June 6 2014 - The last time Todd Rogers
was in the Valley of Mexico, it was for the Bicentennial Olympic
Festival along with his then partner Dalhausser, as well as the
legendary American swimmer Michael Phelps.
Now, Rogers is back in the Mexican capital Metropolitan Area to
play the Fifth Stop at the VIII Norceca International Beach
Volleyball Tour that began at the Bosque Real Country Club with
a new partner: Theodore Brunner.
“Personally Theo and I are here clearly going for the victory.
That’s why we are here. To get a´W´,” Rogers said after his
arrival in Mexico City.
“Regarding the level of play, I think this is obviously, the
strongest NORCECA tournament of the year,” “I think the top
Mexican team is here as well as the top Puerto Rican and Cuban.
Two Americans, two Canadians and (others like) Aruba,” he added.
“Obviously the competition for the men at least will be very
good and as far as the organization, We are staying at a
fantastic hotel, delicious meals, no complains,” he stated after
being received by the organizing committee and the NORCECA
Control Committee.
This was a very nice comeback for Rogers, who won the Olympic
Gold six years ago in Chinese soil.
“I was here for the Bicentennial (Olympic Festival) with my
partner Phil Dalhausser,” he recalled. “We did like an
exhibition with Aldo Miramontes and Juan Virgen”. |
