RIMINI, Italy - A tough team from Belgium
rebounded from a two-set deficit to beat
Dominican Republic 3-2 (31-33, 19-25, 25-20,
25-16, 15-11) in the second round of the FIVB
Nations League Women's Volleyball Tournament on
Monday.
It was the first victory for Belgium, which in
the first round had lost in five sets to Russia
and lost 3-0 to the Netherlands and Germany.
Dominican Republic fell to 1-3.
Belgian Britt Herbots was the best scorer of the
game with 33 points, followed by Jodie Guilliams
with 18. Marlies Janssens and Celine Van Gestels
contributed 15 and 13, respectively.
For the Dominican Republic, Gaila González led
with 28 points, followed by Prisilla Rivera,
Bethania de la Cruz and Jineiry Martínez with
18, 17 and 15 points, respectively.
Dominican Brayelin Martínez, who is recovering
from a left calf injury, played briefly and
scored 3 points. |
