Bethania leads Eczacibasi to Champions League title

 

   

SZCZECIN, Poland, April 5, 2015 – Dominican Bethania De la Cruz was named best player and best spiker of the match won by her Eczacibasi Vitra of Istanbul over Unendo Yamamay Busto Arsizio 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-21) to capture the title of the European Champions League at Azoty Arena on Sunday.

 

The crowd of around 5,000 spectators saw De la Cruz scoring 13 points, the same total achieved by teammates Jordan Larson-Burbach of United States and Gozde Yilmaz of Turkey.

 

Italian Valentina Diouf led Unendo Yamamay also with 13 points, followed by Russian Ekaterina Lyubushkina with 11 tallies.

 

Eczacibasi Vitra came from behind to take the first set after trailing 7-8 and 12-16 at the technical time-outs but dominated the next two frames of the decisive match.

 

De la Cruz finished the European Champions League with 200 points in 12 matches covering 43 sets for an average of 16.67 per match and 4.65 per set.
