Brayelin scores 31 in Dominican tough loss to Korea
NINGBO, China, May 16, 2018 – Brayelin Martinez scored a
match-high 31 points but couldn’t avoid the loss of Dominican
Republic to Korea in five thrilling sets (26-24, 25-27, 21-25,
25-14, 15-12) in the second round of the inaugural FIVB
Volleyball Nations League on Wednesday.
The match was a nail-biting duel between the two sides with the
Korean team sealing the win with a formidable 29-point
performance of their star Yeon Kuong Kim.
Su Ji Kim finished with 18 points, including seven blocks, one
of which set up match point, while the athletic Jaeyeong Lee
scored 15 offensive points.
Gaila Gnzalez had 17 points for the defeated side while JIneiry
Martinez added 14 in the loss. Annerys Vargas and Yonkaira Peña
each chipped in with 10.
Korea improved to 1-1 while Dominican Republic dropped to 0-2.
Korea next plays China while Dominican Republic meets Belgium. |
