Brazil rolls past Mexico in three sets

 

   

CALLAO, Peru, June 19, 2015 - Brazil rolled past Mexico in straight sets 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 15-17) in a qualification match for the 7-10 positions of the XIV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup at Miguel Grau Coliseum of Callao on Friday.

 

Lana Conceicao was the best Brazilian scorer with 12 points, followed by Drussyla Costa and Laiza Ferreira with 8 markers apiece in the victory. Mexico’s Lizbeth Sainz had a match-high 13 points while Karina Flores and Dulce Carranza each had 7.

 

Brazil led in blocks 11-1 and Mexico dominated in serving aces 7-0.

 

Dulce Carranza, captain of Mexico: “It has been a bad game for us as we lacked concentration a little bit. Well, now it is about thinking about tomorrow’s match. We can play better.”

 

Lana Conceicao, captain of Brazil: “Mexico plays at a very fast pace and our blocked worked well. Besides that, it was a match to give playing opportunities to my teammates. Tomorrowe we want to go whoever is the opponent looking to keep it going an play for the fifth position.”
