Brazilians dominate Beach Volleyball Championships

THE HAGUE, the Netherlands, July 6, 2015 – The Hague turned orange on Sunday evening for Reinder Nummerdor and Christian Varenhorst, but it was the green and gold of Brazil that eventually came out on top in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship men’s final as Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt sealed a thrilling 12-21, 21-14, 22-20 win over the home heroes.

It was the first time the two teams had met, and Alison/Bruno had to overcome some vocal home support to claim Alison’s second and Bruno’s maiden title.

Brazilian Barbara Seixas and Agatha Bednarczuk carved their name into FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship folklore after sealing the 2015 title with a 21-18, 21-19 of fellow compatriots Taiana Lima and Fernanda Alves.

It was a first world title for the pair, with Barbara adding to the bronze she won two years ago at the 2013 World Championship.

Evandro Goncalves delivered a serving clinic as he and Pedro Solberg powered to Bronze with a 22-20, 21-13 victory over Theodore Brunner and Nick Lucena at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship 2015 in The Hague.

Juliana Felisberta da Silva and Maria Antonelli ensured an all-Brazilian women’s podium after they claimed a 23-25, 21-18, 15-9 win over Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmler in bronze medal match.
