Timothy Brewster and Kyle Friend, of United
States won their two pool-play matches and
advanced to quarterfinals of the V NORCECA Beach
Volleyball Tour, increasing their chances to
repeat the gold medal they won in Punta Cana las
week.
Brewster/Friend advanced to the quarterfinal
round after beating Daniel Delgado/Roberto
Recinos of Guatemala, 2-0 and then with a 2-0
against Marc Lomeli/Daniel Samuelson of U.S.
Virgin Islands.
Brewster/Friend wait for the winner between
Daniel Dyner/Sebastián Valenciano of Costa Rica
and Joseph Clercen/Sheldon Descartes of St.
Lucia.
In the other bracket, Andy Leonardo/Luis García
of Guatemala, advanced to quarterfinals winning
over Paul Lotman/Raffe Paulis of United States
2-0. Leonardo/García wait for the winner between
the U. S. Virgin Islands (Lomeli/Samuelson) and
Jefferson Cascante/Danny López of Nicaragua.
The other Nicaraguans, Rubén Mora/Denis López,
won pool A, beating Dominica and Costa Rica (Criforth
Lobo/José Villafuerte), and wait for the winner
of Canada’s Liam Kopp/Arran Chambers and
Guatemala’s Delgado/Recinos.
Also, Lobo/Villafuerte of Costa Rica, will face
team USA (Lotman/Paulis), to decide who faces
the other Candian duo Jake MacNeil/William
Russel in quarterfinals.
