Canada Women's Team Announces Schedule for the Summer
WINNIPEG, Canada February 11, 2012 - Entering the new 2013-2016
quadrennial, the Canada Senior Women's National Team staff has
been busy planning for their upcoming 2013 season, building on
last year and the squad that was chosen for the 2012 Pan Am Cup.
To kick off the season there will be once again an Open
Selection Camp taking place in Winnipeg at the University of
Manitoba from April 29-May 2. This camp will be used to select
an extended roster of 18-22 athletes for the women's Senior A
Team, as there will not be a separate Senior B Team this summer.
For the Universiade Games in Kazan, Russia in July, eligible
athletes from the Senior A Team roster will comprise the team
that will represent Canada in this event.
A major highlight of the summer will be the reimplementation of
the Canada Cup. Team Canada is planning to host three other
national teams in a four-team exhibition competition in later
August in Winnipeg to help prepare for the NORCECA Continental
Championship the following month in the USA.
The full schedule for this season is as follows:
April 29-May 2: Open Selection Camp -University of Manitoba
June 5-16: Pan Am Cup -Peru
July 6-7: FISU Games - Russia
August: Canada Cup - Manitoba
September 14-22: NORCECA Continental Championship – USA |
