Canada dominates Dominican Republic in straight sets

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana, June 2, 2022 – Canada pulled up a dominating straight-set victory 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-18) over Dominican Republic at the FIVB Women Volleyball Nations League on Thursday night.

The Canadian duo of Alexa Gray and Kiera Van Ryk contributed 19 and 18 points, respectively, carrying most of the offensive load for the winning side. Hillary Howe added 9 points in the victory.

Madeline Guillen and Yonkaira Peña finished with 12 and 9 points, respectively, for the Dominican Republic.

Canada dominated in attacks (43-26), blocks (9-4) and serving aces (8-5).

The Canadians who had lost their first match against Poland evened their record at 1-1 while the Dominicans who were defeated by United States are now 0-2.
