Canadians Humana and Pishke produce surprise in San Pedrito Beach

MANZANILLO, Mexico, May 30 2014 - The couple of Canada 2, composed by Melissa Humana and Taylor Pishke produced a big surprise on Day 1 at the Fourth Stop of the VIII Norceca International Beach Volleyball Circuit.

Humana and Pishke defeated Mexico’s number 1 duo of Bibiana Candelas and Martha Revuelta 2-0 (21-15, 21-19) in a Pool B first round match. Both Candelas and Revuelta struggled in their second match against Heather Hughes and Chirstal Engle of USA 2 who won 26-24, 21-16.

Meanwhile, Americans Kendra Vanzweiten and Allison Daley of USA 2 opened the actions with a victory over Samira Luis and Christine Anthony of Curacao (21-8, 21-16), while Humana and Pishke of Canada 2 beat the Orellanas sisters, Maria Jose and Maria Andrea of Guatemala (21-12, 21-9).

The Canadians also recorded a victory over the hosts, as Claudia Seguin and Brandi Wilkerson of Canada 1 won against Polet Cruz and Vanessa Virgen of Mexico 2, (21-18, 21-15).

However, Virgen and Cruz won their second match over Maria Vargas and Kathia Vasquez of El Salvador (21-12, 21-19) to reach the next round of the stop.

The actions will continue on Saturday starting 9:00 AM, local time at San Pedrito Beach.
