Chile claims second victory at U19 Boys’ Pan Am Cup

 

MONTERREY, Mexico, March 21, 2017 - Chile claimed it second victory in U19 Boys’ Pan American Cup after beating Dominican Republic in five sets (25-21, 26-28, 25-14, 22-25 and 15-10).

 

Vicente Ibarra and Esteban Mülchi finished with 20 points apiece while Vicente Mardones registered 16 for Chile. On the Dominican side Bayron Valdez had 20 tallies, Frantony Segura scored 19 and Junior Perez 10.

 

Captain of Dominican Republic, Adalberto Gonzalez: “We faced a good opponent, thanks God we played this match despite we could not win. They showed their experience, they detected our weakness and we could not play our game.”

 

Captain of Chile, Joaquin Leon: “Fortunately we could win. Despite everything we could win. It was tough but we could move on.”

 

Coach of Dominican Republic, Loren Rodriguez: “I think our players did their best. We have to give credit to Chile for their comeback and they adjusted their service against our best attacker.”

 

Coach of Chile, Ivan Villarreal: “This was a tough match. We faced adversity. Some controversial referee calls. But the players could overcome and showed a resilient attitude in a difficult momento against a stroing opponent. Fortunately we are atop of our pool.”
