Chilean Valenzuela ties blocking record

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 25, 2019 – The first day of actions in the U19 Boys’ Pan American Volleyball Cup saw Chilean Vicente Valenzuela entering the record books of the competition.

The middle blocker of Chile, who stands at 1.98 meters and turns 18 next August 28, registered six blocks in the victory of his side over Puerto Rico in four sets on Wednesday.

Valenzuela, who totals 9 points in the 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 26-24) victory, joined Mexican Zamudio Rodriguez as the co-owner of the record in the category for a single match.

Rodríguez had six blocks in a straight set victory over Trinidad & Tobago 3-0 (25-19 25-18, 25-11) on July 11, 2011.
