China defeated Puerto Rico in Pool G
CAROLINA, Puerto Rico, June 6, 2014 – China defeated Puerto Rico
3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-22) in day one of Pool G of the FIVB World
League at Guillermo Angulo Coliseum on Friday.
Yuan Zhi led China with 13 points, including four aces, while
Weijun Zhing contributed 12 in the victory
Maurice Torres had a match-high 14 points for Puerto Rico in the
loss. Ezequiel Cruz had 11.
In the first match of the day, Slovakia defeated Spain in four
sets (25-13, 18-25, 25-20, 28-26).
Slovakia had a balanced offense with five players reaching
double figures in the scoring charts. The winners held margins
of 13-6 in blocks and 8-2 in aces.
Matej Patak topped the winners with 14 points, including four
blocks, followed by Milan Bencz with 12. Peter Janusek, Simon
Krajcovic and Lubos Kostolani each contributed 10 points.
Spain’s Daniel Rocamora finished with a match-high 18 points in
the loss.
