Chula Vista Beach Volleyball Tournament gets underway

CHULA VISTA, California, October 4, 2013 – The Chula Vista Beach Volleyball Tournament, the eight leg of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit, gets underway on Friday at the U.S. Olympic Centre with a total of 32 matches in the double-gender competition.

Sixteen pairs per gender have been divided into four pools with the top two duos from each pool advancing to a single elimination bracket. The two pairs of the in the bottom half of the pools will play for the 9-16 positions.

The women’s action features an opening match between Nadia Galan and Lourdes Ramirez of Guatemala-A and Sara Day and Kaitlin Nielsen of United States-B. The second match sees Dominican Republic’s Diana Peguero and Nairobi Agramonte against Victoria Altomare and Julie Gordon of Canada-B.

In the men’s division, Andrew Hinchey and Ryan Vandenburg of Canada-A will play the first match of the day against William Montgomery and Avery Drost of United States-C followed by the contest between Dominican Republic’s William Sanchez and Aneuris Polanco and Costa Rica’s Julio Alvarez and Diego Alpizar.

The traditional preliminary inquiries and general technical meeting took place on Thursday under the supervision of NORCECA Delegate Mayra Huerta and Arnaldo Sanchez, the director of the competition.
