Costa Rica secures spot in quarterfinals

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, September 4, 2016 - Costa Rica advanced to the quarterfinals of the NORCECA U-18 Continental Championship after defeating French St. Martin.

The Costa Ricans dominated the match with scores of 25-8, 25-7, 25-8, to finish in the third place in Pool B.

Isla Johnson was the best scorer for Costa Rica with 24 points.

"It's always good to get a win. Now get ready to face a powerhouse like the USA or Dominican Republic, we must work and look to play like we did yesterday in the third set," said Andres Lopez , head coach of Costa Rica.

While French St. Maarten coach, Jean Luuc Lezin commented, "The girls continue to learn new things. These games are good for our development."
