Costa Rica overcomes Nicaragua to remain unbeaten

PANAMA CITY, Panama, October 20, 2017 - Costa Rica (3-0) managed to maintain their unbeaten record in a remarkable way.

After losing two sets, Costa Rica got up to win 3-2 (10-25, 14-25, 25-14, 25-16, 15-8) over Nicaragua in the XII Central American U19 Men's Volleyball Championship.

Juan Arrrieta with 14 points and 11 each by Jeferson Guzman and Dowshell McDonald, led Costa Rica to victory, while Nicaragua had Josué Cano with 20 points and 19 of Manuel Hernandez.

A very even match, reflected in the statistics, with 44 points per attack by each team, Nicaragua led 9-7 in services and Costa Rica in blocks 9-6, with 30 points by errors in favor of Nicaragua and 29 for their rivals.

Juan Acuña, coach of Costa Rica, said that "it was very difficult today; We had two games of much effort, that of having double day has taken its toll. We started badly as we watched from playing five sets at noon and with an hour of recovery. Then it was Nicaragua that fell into that hole, although they started playing very well."
