Costa Rica will face Honduras and Guatemala in the U21 Semifinals

PUERTO CORTÉS, Honduras. November 3, 2018.- Guatemala 1 with María Fernanda Juárez / Paola Alvarado led group A, unbeaten in four starts, to advance to the semifinals of the XI Central American Sub-21 Beach Volleyball Championship where she will face Irena and Lucia Gómez de Costa Rica 1

Juarez / Alvarado won 2-1 (21-14, 17-21, 15-12) to Sofía Velásquez/Gabriela Funes (ESA 1) and closed with a 2-0 win (21-12, 21-4) over Xue Murillo/Shantte Siliezar, from Honduras 2.

In second place of group A was Costa Rica 2 (Larissa Villegas/Ana Paula Fallas), with two victories and two defeats, the same record as Nicaragua 1 (Lourdes Lugo/Anielka Alonso) and El Salvador 1, but Costa Ricans had a better ratio of points in the tiebreaker.

Villegas / Fallas lost their only match of the day on Saturday 1-2 (21-16, 20-22, 13-15) against Lugo/Alonso, but it was not enough for the Nicaraguans to advance.

While Velásquez/Funes (ESA 1) played a great game against the Guatemalan Juarez / Alvarado, but they ran out of energy in the closing of the game remaining in the fourth position, with Honduras 2 (Xue Murillo / Shantte Siliezar) in fifth with 0 -4.

In group B, Cecille Johnson/Shanna Rivera (HON 1) dominated after finishing unbeaten in four games, with wins 2-1 (21-13, 14-21, 15-10) over Fernanda Romero/María Fernanda Chamorro (NCA 2 ) and 2-0 (22-20, 21-19) over Kimberly Cardona/Martha Guillermo (GUA 2).

Johnson / Rivera will meet in the semifinal against Villegas/Fallas, from Costa Rica 2.

Alejandra Mariona/Dana Funes of El Salvador 2 were in third with 2-2, followed by Cardona/Guillermo with 1-3 and Romero / Chamorro with 0-4.
