Costa Ricans continue reigning
SAN JUAN DEL SUR, Nicaragua , October 20, 2013 - Ingrid Morales/Natalia
Alfaro continue to reign in the Central Beach volleyball by
taking the title of XIII Major League with a 2-0 win (21-8 ,
21-5) over Diana Romero/Marcela Avalos of El Salvador .
The number 1 team of Nicaragua, of Elia Torrez and Swan Mendoza
won 2-0 (21-14 , 21-19 ) against Costa Rica 2 (Katherine
Quesada/Eugenia Ramirez), to finish in third position. For the
fifth place, the sisters Heidy and Mercedes Traña of Nicaragua
prevailed 2-1 (21-17, 18-21, 15-11) over El Salvador 1 (Kathya
Vasquez/Maria Fernanda Vargas) .
In the semifinals, Morales/Alfaro won 2-0 (21-13, 21-8) against
the Nicaraguan Torrez/Mendoza, while Salvadorans Romero/Avalos
beat Quesada/Ramirez in a great duel 2-1 (21-17, 17-21, 23-21).
Ingrid Morales said: "I am very happy, this is the eighth title
win, the sixth and last with Natalia since will not continue
together."
"We are making a transition in Costa Rica and Natalia is
starting to play with Karen Cope, and we need more blocking, a
deficiency that we have to correct to adavance further," Morales
added.
Meanwhile Alfaro added that "we worked hard for this, we train a
lot because we take this tournament seriously. We can give up a
point without fighting, we always play hard." |
