Cristo Rey and Mirador share first place in Dominican League

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, Mach 12, 2019 – Cristo Rey and Mirador won their respective contests against Caribeñas New Horizons and Guerreras, respectively, to keep a share of first place in the standings of the Dominican Women’s Volleyball League on Monday.

 

Both teams have 3-1 win-loss records and are scheduled to meet in the first match of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

 

Cristo Rey defeated Caribeñas Cristo Rey d Caribeñas 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-21, 26-24) while Mirador beat Guerreras 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-21).

 

Madeline Guillen had 22 points and Gina Mambru added 16 in the victory of Cristo Rey. Romina Cornelio and Marifranchi Rodriguez chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively, in the victory.

 

Erasma Moreno, the leading scorer of the tournament, had a match-high 27 points for Caribeñas and Candida Arias added 16.

 

Bethania de la Cruz made her debut with 18 points to lead the victory of Mirador while Natalia Martínez and Geraldine González contributed 14 and 10 in the win.

 

Priscila Rivera and Dahiana Burgos finished up with 21 and 13 points, respectively, for Guerreras.
