Cyprus and England set to go for Boys’ Gold in Bahamas

NASSAU, Bahamas, July 21, 2017 – Cypriots Constantinos Skordis and Sotiris Siapanis will meet England’s twins Luis Javier Bello and Joaquin Bello for the beach volleyball boys’ gold medal of the Youth Commonwealth Games Bahamas 2017 on Friday.

Skordis and Siapanis won the first semifinal contest with a 2-0 (21-18, 21-19) victory against Ghana’s Kelvin Carboo and Eric Tsatsu.

The Bello/Bello tandem knocked down Australians Mark Nikolaidis and James Takken 2-0 (21-17, 21-15) in the second semifinal on Friday.

Earlier on Friday, New Zealand’s Tyran Gillepsie and Keegan Tai Joe defeated Lukholo Jooste and Aviwe Mamfanya of South Africa 2-0 (21-11, 21-15) for the fifth position.

Damien Aisi and Tonnie Gima of Papua New Guinea beat Levi Leonce and Kyhim Remy of St Lucia 2-0 (21-18, 21-9) for seventh place.

Meanwhile, Daynte Stewart and Martin DeVaughn of Trinidad and Tobago won a rollercoaster match 2-1 (21-14, 16-21, 15-10) over Jamaica’s Javarie James and Daunte Smith for ninth position.

In the first contest of the morning between two home teams, Nathan Wert and Kyle Wilson of Bahamas-A defeated Aaron Springer and James Cleare of Bahamas-B 2-0 (21-15, 21-8) for the eleventh place in the standings.
