De la Cruz to play at Club World Championship

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 27, 2017 – Dominican prolific scorer Bethania De la Cruz will be playing in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship to be contested in Kobe, Japan from May 9-14.

De la Cruz has been a steady offensive contributor for Russia’s Dinamo Moscow since joining the team early in the season.

Dinamo Moscow has been named as the eighth and final team in this year’s FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship.

The Russian 2016 Super League champions, who are also 2-1 in the best of five-match final against Dinamo Kazan in the 2017 Russian Super League finals, replace former wild card selection VakifBank Istanbul.

The Turkisk team ended up qualifying via the European qualification spot after winning the European Champions League title in Treviso on Sunday.

Moscow, who finished fourth in Treviso, join three other wild card picks Volero Zurich, Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul and Volei Nestle Osasco (which were already announced on April 3) for the annual international club competition.

The three other participating clubs include hosts Hisamitsu Springs of Kobe, reigning Asian champions NEC Red Rockets of Kawasaki and South American champions Rexona Sesc Rio de Janeiro.
