Sport Commission concludes NORCECA 2013 Volleyball Calendar
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, December 10, 2012 – The
NORCECA Sport Organizing Commission concluded its two-day
fruitful meetings at the headquarters of the institution with
the approval of the competition calendar for 2013.
The meetings were chaired by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President
of NORCECA, and Saul Castro Verdugo, President of the
commission.
The Women’s Pan American Cup will be held in the city of
Mayaguez, Puerto Rico from June 4-15 while the Men’s Pan
American Cup will take place in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico from May
19-27.
The city of Omaha, Nebraska in USA will host the Women’s
Continental Championship from September 7-15 while the Men’s
Continental Championship will be in Langley, Canada from
September 21-29. The winners of these two events will qualify to
the Grand Champions Cup in Japan on November of next year.
The season kicks off with the U-20 Women’s Pan American Cup in
Cuba (March 16-24) and continues with the U-18 Girl’s Pan
American Cup in Guatemala (April 13-21).
One country of Central America still to be decided will host the
U-19 Boy’s Pan American Cup from June 2-10 while the U-21 Men’s
Pan American Cup will be in Argentina on July 21-29.
The second round of qualification tournaments towards the FIVB
2014 World Championships will continue with twelve events.
During the meetings the presidents of the different zones within
NORCECA presented their activities’ reports during the year as
also did the president of the confederation.
The participants in the meetings were: Glenn Quinlan,
Mushtaque Mohammed, Hugh Wong, Jose Luis Jimenez, Lucille
Hobson, Margie Mara, Tom Pingel, John Blacher, Mireya Luis,
Nelson Pérez and Ramón Garcia. Also, Nelson Ramirez, general
manager of NORCECA, and Chrissy Benz, Sports Events Director. |
