Rosa and Figueroa get awards in Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, December 30, 2012 – Yarimar Rosa and Juan Figueroa were named as female and male athletes of the year respectively by the Puerto Rican National Federation. They will be the representatives of volleyball at the annual Olympic Gala to take place on January 27.

Both Rosa and Figueroa had outstanding performances in 2012 as players of the national teams and also in the Volleyball Superior League.

Rosa returned to play after a left foot surgery and was elected as Most Valuable Player of the League playing for Indias de Mayaguez and also claimed the Comeback of the Year award.

Figueroa, who played for Olympiakos in the Greece League, had an outstanding season with Patriotas de Lares finishing as best scorer and best spiker of the circuit.
