Dominican Girls win Gold Medal in Peru

LIMA, Peru, November 6, 2013 –The Dominican Republic’s National Girls Team won the gold medal at the International U18 Volleyball Tournament organized by the Peruvian Volleyball Federation.

The event took place in the cities of Sochina and Huacho and the Dominican side coached by Brazilian Alexandre Ceccato won their four matches with Yokaty Perez and Natalia Martinez as the top performers.

They began their campaign with a solid victory over Uruguay by scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-15 and continued with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-22 win against Chile.

The Dominicans concluded the preliminary round-robin with a five-set thrilling victory 15-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-20, 17-15 over hosts Peru.

In the match for the gold medal, the Dominican Republic scored a convincing straight set victory 25-22, 25-21, 25-23 over Peru.
