Dominican Henry Tapia sets another record

 

WINNIPEG, Canada, September 6, 2019 – Henry Tapia of Dominican Republic became the first ever player to reach twice the 30-point plateau in a single competition in the history of the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship.

 

Tapia, who had scored 34 points in a four-set victory of his Dominican team over Guatemala on August 4, notched 33 in the five-set loss to Puerto Rico in the match for the fifth position.

 

Tapia joined his countryman Jose Cáceres as the only players with two matches of 30 or more points in a single match.

 

Caceres who established the tournament record with 37 in a match against Mexico on October 17, 2009, also scored 31 against Cuba on September 9, 2013.

 

The 30-point plateau has been reached now eight times by six players, announced Roosevelt Comarazamy, director of communications of NORCECA.
