Dominican Republic keep an undefeated march at CACG

 

CORDOBA, Mexico, November 16 2014 - Dominican Repubic outclassed Colombia in straight sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-17) to continue their perfect match at the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games.

 

Annerys Vargas, Bethania de la Cruz and Prisila Rivera were the top scorers  for Dominican Republic with  15, 11 and 10 points respectively.

 

Amanda Coneo was Colombia’s best scorer with 9 units. Dominican Republic closed with a 4-1 service advantage as well as an 11-5 superiority in the blocking department.

 

Dominican Republic captain, Bethania de la Cruz de Pena, mentioned after the match: “This is one more step for us and was a very important victory. We began with some mistakes, we must go match by match.”

 

Candida Arias was also present at the Conference with the media. She said that the Dominican team have to play one match at a time. “We want to improve each day as we want to get closer to the medals,” De la Cruz said.

 

Meanwhile, Colombian captain, Alejandra Marin indicated: “I want to congratulate Dominican Republic. They are a very strong team. We expect to improve as we prepare for our next match against Venezuela.”

 

Dominican Republic’s coach, Marcos Kwiek, stated: “I want to congratulate Colombia. They’ve got a great year as they qualified to the 2015 Grand Prix. We come from a very tough competition like the World Championship and that was physically very demanding.”

 

Mauro Marasciulo, coach of Colombia remarked: “Marcos has done a tremendous job with Dominican Republic, where volleyball has reached a high development. Our team played with more calm than yesterday and made less mistakes.”
