SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA, June 1, 2022 - The large
Dominican community residing in the southern
state of Louisiana cannot escape the magnetism
of their country national women's volleyball
team, already known worldwide as the Queens of
the Caribbean.
Fans hailing from the cities of New Orleans,
Baton Rouge and Shreveport gathered at the
Brookshire Grocery Arena in Bossier City
carrying Dominican flags and banners to cheer on
their team during the game against the United
States on Tuesday night.
Throughout the match, the Dominican fans kept
chanting every good play of their team that
finally fell defeated against the host and
current reigning champion of the League of
Nations.
The National Team is made up of a mixture of new
players with some veterans at the beginning of
the Olympic cycle heading to the 2024 Paris
Olympic Games.
At the end of the game, the players shared some
moments with their compatriots signing
autographs and posing for photographs.
The Dominican Republic returns to the court on
Thursday at 9 pm to face Canada in another clash
between NORCECA teams where they will once again
be counting on the warmth of their Dominican
fans and other admirers. |
