Dominicans even up its record to 3-3 after two rounds

RIMINI, Italy, June 2, 2021 – Dominican Republic evened up its win-loss record to 3-3 at the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League following a 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 28-26, 25-21) victory over Poland to close the second phase of the 16-team competition.

Bethania de la Cruz and Brayelin Martinez, the two main weapons of the Dominican side, led the winning attack with 25 and 21 points, respectively. Prisilla Rivera contributed 12 points in the victory while middle blockers Annerys Vargas and Jineiry Martínez chipped in with 9 and 8.

Magdalena Stysiac had a match-high 26 points for Poland, followed by Martyna Lukasic with 12. Klaudia Alagierska and Agnieszka Kakolewska each scored 9 points in the losing effort.

The Dominicans held the advantage in attacks 61-55 while the Polish led in blocks 12-10. Each team scored via 5 aces and the winners gave away 22 points in errors to 23 by the losers.
