Dominicans keep their winning form in Orlando

 

ORLANDO, Florida, June 26, 2018 – The Dominican Republic kept alive their unbeaten record at 6-0 by adding up three more victories on Tuesday at the 45th AAU Girls Junior National Volleyball Championships in the 18 International Group.

 

The Dominicans began their day with an early triumph over Colombia (Sport Voyager) by scores of 2-0 (25-13, 25-13) and then downed a tough China also 2-0 (25-22, 25-12).

 

Yanlis Feliz and Erka Asencio scored 8 and 7 points, respectively, spearheading the victory over Colombia, while Natalia Martínez had 14 against China.

 

They capped their day with a 2-0 (25-23, 25-12) over the representative of Israel with Martínez leading the way with 12 points.

 

The Caribbean side concludes its participation in the International Division when they meet Brazil and Australia on Wednesday.

 

The winner of the International Division Final (June 28 at 9:30am eastern) will face the winner of the United States 18 Open Final (June 28 at 11:00 eastern) for the overall title on June 28 ay 1:00pm eastern.

 

Also on Tuesday, the undefeated Brazil lost to Puerto Rico in an exciting match 2-1 (26-28, 25-16, 15-12) and then defeated China 2-0 (25-16, 25-14) to stay at 4-1.

 

Meanwhile, Puerto Rico won their second match of the day 2-0 (25-13, 25-10) over Colombia (Pony’s Club) and defeated Australia 2-0 (25-13, 25-8) to improve to 5-1.
