ECVA BVB Olympic Qualifier serves off in Antigua

 

   

CASTAWAYS, Antigua, April 23, 2015 - The Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association -ECVA- Beach Volleyball Zonal Tournament of the NORCECA Continental Cup, the first round of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, serves off in Antigua on Friday at beautiful Castaways Beach located in Jolly Harbour.

 

Antigua will host two tournaments, first the men’s qualifier from April 24-26, followed by the women’s division from May 1-3. A total of six teams of both genders will advance to the second round qualifier, facing the top six from the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association -CAZOVA-.

 

Glenn Quinlan, President of ECVA, appointed as Director of the Competition, confirmed the registration of 22 male teams from eleven countries during the preliminary inquiry.

 

Quinlan, also presided the general technical meeting on Thursday at the YMCA Sports Complex, joined by members of the NORCECA control committee.

 

“It will be an intense competition, with three hard working days; be good sportsman at all time and the top six will continue their Olympic quest further this year”, Quinlan stated.

 

The Men teams registered are:

 

Anguilla: Omari Hamilton/Aldus Frank and Daren Wbster/Aristo Richardson. Antigua & Barbuda: Jamarie James/Collin Thomas and Adrian Constant/Yoshid Auguistr. Bermuda: Joshua Malpas/Daniel Fiddick and Gary LeBlanc/Eric Haller. British Virgin Islands: Marlon Solomon/Paul Mourillon and Marlon Burke/Carldon Morton.  Dominica: Deon Vidal/Yahn Florent and Lincoln/Riviere/Kerwin George. Dutch St. Martin: Juwon Hans/Riegmar Valies and Shivanni Levenstone/Shwan Gumbs. French St. Martin: Christophe Parisot/Alain Pansiot-Villon and Rotilio Richardson/Gullaume Bryan. Grenada: Andrews Akin/Darron Oxford and Nivel John/Devon Paul. St. Kitts & Nevis: Everson Browne/Sterdroy Collins.  St. Lucia: Agustin Faulkner/Coen Caesar and Sheldon Descartes/Darnel Eudoxie. St. Vincent: Cassius Franklyn/Delshun Welcome and Ronaldo Franklyn/Asmond Franklyn.

 

Friday’s schedule starts with the series between Anguilla v. British Virgin Islands, French St. Martin v. Bermuda and Dominica v. Dutch St. Martin.
