Edya Espinoza MVP of AFECAVOL U20

 

BELIZE CITY, July 22, 2017 – Edya Espinoza of Costa Rica was recipient of the award as Most Valuable Player of the XVII U20 Women’s Volleyball Championship.

 

The captain of Costa Rica won her second consecutive crown and also took home the awards as best spiker and best receiver. Paola Alvarado of Guatemala was the second best spiker.

 

Ruth Aguilar of Honduras was the best server. Nathaly Pérez was the best scorer with 99 points besides being the best blocker along with Adriana Dubon of El Salvador.

 

The best digger was Maria Castro of Costa Rica and Carmen Gomez of Guatemala the best setter. Leonela Carcache of Nicaragua was the best libero and teammate María Campos was the best opposite.

 

“In spite we didn’t come in our best shape we won the championship. We did our best, the best from everyone and at the end the attitude in each game earned us the crown,” Espinoza said.

 

“We were well motivated and didn’t want to let the title escape and the character in each game, despite the loss to Guatemala, kept us together,” commented Edya who also won the U18 crown of AFECAVOL in 2015.
